Photo critique

“My name is Tamara and I am 22 from Brisbane,Australia. I have always loved photography, IT and everything creative. About a year ago I purchased my first DSLR. The Canon EOS 650D. Over time I have expanded my lens collection. I currently have the: Canon EF-S 55-250mm USM, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM,¬†¬†Canon EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM Lenses. I am also currently saving up for an external flash unit as well. I have been watching your tutorials for about a week now and have already learned alot. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank you for this amazing and priceless resource, it’s definitely valuable to me. I was wondering whether you could give me some feedback on a random selection of my photos? As requested each of the 3 photos submitted have a name.

Tamara,

thank you for your submission. I appreciate the time and effort to send this email and I will be as honest as I can with your photos. I understand you love taking pictures and I salute that. Looking at your random photos, I do not feel that you spent any effort to select something that represents you as a photographer. Please see the other critiques to get an idea what level we are trying to get comments for. Your images are not there yet,. You need to see the world differently as your pics are average, anyone can take this with any camera. What makes them stand out? what are you trying to communicate? what composition do oyu have in mind?

I do not feel any approach, just randomness. No composition and no consideration for what is in the picture. I cannot make valuable comments and I do not have much to talk about

A day in country life

is this about the lake or the animals? randomness, no rule, no intention. Very confusing. If is is about the lake, than the animals are too big and too distracting.

Beachside memory

no composition, sky and water are overexposed, just the back of to people on the beach…what is this all about? is this your memory? really?

Springtime sunset

do you believe this is a about spring time or the sunset?

image underexposed, random, no clear composition, no intent. Anyone can take this picture

I appreciate the effort, but you need to look at other people’s work and step back and think; is your work close? You need to do the effort to find good subject, not just pointing the camera wherever you are. why would someone else than you appreciate that?
