I have started photography about 2 year ago when I buy my first DSLR , actually I am into photography very long time ago but I said 2 year ago because until you didn’t have DSLR you don’t know much about photography. When I was out to buy a DSLR I have seen many posts with kits & body only regardless of brand. I was just wondering what body only means.  After some research & reading article I decide to buy a entry level DSLR with a kit lens.
I came back to home & start click here & there and no miracle happen all picture were very ordinary like approximately equally to my point & shoot.  That make me very disappointed, plus 18 to 55 mm range further disappointed me I thought I have more zoom then my point & shoot on DSLR but it’s even lesser then my PS. I thought I have bought a wrong brand I should go with some other brand & higher level of body then entry level.  I started my research again on camera model & brands which one is better after some research & time spend with DSLR I come to know that I need to have a good lens. what’s wrong with my kit lens I started web searching for a good lens I though the more the zoom the better the lens nothing else matters, there are many lenses available in market I come to know that there some third party lenses also available which are less expensive then the branded ones, i chosen another lens for my camera with was 70-300 4.5-5.6 lens. But again this lens disappointed me I can’t use it indoor & need very fast shutter speed. Which again make me study more about the lenses I got to know that for longer focal length you need VR/IS (vibration Reduction/ Image Stabilization) to reduce vibration & camera shake at longer focal length the higher the magnification the more shutter speed you need, with VR/IS you can reduce your shutter speed 2/3 stops down which helps you to get sharp images at lower shutter speeds.
After spending time on photography article & experience I got to know that the faster aperture & sharp lenses which produce quality of images & background defocus actually very expensive ones, even more expensive then my camera body.  Some people recommended lenses like 50 1.8 lens which is the less expensive lenses on all camera brands I decided to buy it.

After getting 50mm I got to know that 50mm produced a better images then my kit lens but they are not good as I was thinking before buying 50mm 1.8 plus I need to stop it down to 2.8/3.5 to get sharp images when I stop down the lens there is about a 1 or 2 stop difference remain in 50 & my Kit lens the color reproduction & sharpness is better than my kit lens but not much improvement then a kit lens in terms of noise, then I purchase a speed light & light modifier & story changes I was very pleased with the results colors & sharpness on my kit lens with help of speed light & story going to end here. all you need is to buy speed light & light modifiers for indoor & outdoor shoots your kit lens is not going to disappoint you. I have bought a third party Chinese brand speed light they are pretty good alternative for Branded ones, well made good performance no issues at all.
What is better than kit lens actually nothing better than your kit lens when Price vs Performance matter kit lens is awesome lens produces very good images highly recommended
