Go crazy, brake the ice!
wedding photography posing tips
If you want to have also a set of great wedding pictures, you need to step aside the seriously and formalism of a wedding and try to get the bridal party to relax, act silly and get some funny faces. It is important to give the clients a great set of pictures to remember, especially if they are different than the photos they usually take for themselves
The bridesmaids kiss
The easiest way to break the ice and start to get some pictures are are less serious is to ask the bridesmaids to kiss the bride. Probably only the 2 next to the bride will actually end up kissing her, the others will just simulpate. this works every time, even for more serious couples, but this is the ice braking point as the next request is to give me funny faces, pull out the tongue or do the Charlie’s Angels pose. For more playful girls this is the first opportunity to go nuts.
The groomsmen kiss
Following the bridesmaids example, it is turn for the groomsmen to do the same and kiss. Probably not everyone will do it, but invariably there will be the funny friend having a go, and when the boys are already with few beers onboard, they can go very funny. The “give me a funny face” request is next and the boys will get silly again.
The jump
Next thing on the wedding photography location agenda is the jump. probably the boys are more successful than the girls, but there are bridesmaids open enough to give it a go, even if just simulating. Of course it is difficult to jump on the heels in those dresses, but they are in the mood for fun and they will do it
The air throw
Following the jump, there comes the groom throw in the air like he is a sports champion and achieved a great achievement. They always have a lough and make sure as a photographer you tell them you have medical insureance if they are not capable to catch the groom back.
The Madonna pose
After the air throw comes the “Madonna” pose where all the groomsmen will lift the bride like in “material girl video” make sure the groom is doing most of the work and he will actually carry his bride, as this is a chance for the other groomsmen to touch the bride and you do not want any conflict arising from someone holding the bride’s breast other than the groom.
The male Madonna pose
Same thing with the bridesmaids holding the groom. Probably less successful in term of how many bridesmaids are willing to do that, but when they do, it is always a great shot.
Conclusion
the crazier they get, the better and funnier photos you are going to get. Please remember, as a photographer it is your responsibility to interact with them as they will not do it without your direction

Hello Christian,
I’m prety new to photography, I’ve an olympus pen, it is a mirrorless interchangable lens camera.
It came with a software for RAW editing, but ther is no brushes, changes applies to all the picture.
Should I get Photoshop or lightroom? What are the differences?
Thanks

thank you for your message. I have got a simple answer for you
– if you want to do fine art image processing, and you want to shoot just few pictures and modify them, you can get photoshop. very complex software, you can do a lot of editing – expensive if you want to purchase
– if you want to edit pictures only (play with images – modifying, brightness contrast, colours etc) and not modify the structure of the image you can get Lightroom. This one is built for large libraries of images and multi edit in the same time. You can apply one modification to hundreds of images in bulk – you cannot do that in photoshop. also inexpensive – I believe better results and better colours
