Groom, morning room and New Zealand

photo critique for Danielle

Danielle
thank you for your submission. your images look good, a but rough but they are good enough for a discussion

The quality of the photo is good, too dark for my taste and to moody for a wedding photo. An event like that should inspire happiness, freedom, joy and life. This one looks like an accountant got a bonus. This is not about the visual quality of the image which is decent, it is about the image you chose to be critique. Stand back for a second and let me know what do you think is the feeling coming from it?
I know this is subjective and this is just a first opinion on the first impact.
I believe the image much better than 90 on images in this world because at least makes me wait for a few seconds and think what do you want to tell me with it, so from thsi perspective it does have an impact….not so sure it is the right one.

Morning run

Grass and flowers need to breath colour. black and white is again industrial, austere and dark. Also one flower in a texture with the rule of thirds is a bit dated in my opinion.

The composition is OK, you have got a good eye on that, but the image lacks the impact. I see some dramatic post editing (let me know if I am mistaken), there is some intention, but the image does not  work the nest. The middle of the picture is underexposed and heavy. theres is pressure and tension.

I believe you have got enough photographic skills, but if this is visual language you prefer, so be it, it is just your images are heavy for my taste. I believe the visual aids must suit the purpose and the message, but in this your case, you are using dark elements to tell me something nice….
you do not have to change your style for me, I am not the one who needs to be happy – this is an honest feedback
hope it helps and gives you a bit of perspective
I would like to see another set of pictures from you….
