Photography critique

We are starting with this article a new section of the Academy of Photography website designated for having your images commented. These images have been submitted by Bhupendra , an amateur photographer wishing to get feedback from Academy of Photography. We welcome anyone’s opinion, within a reasonable constructive criticism

remember one thing…these comments are of only one person, opinions might differ, there is not right and wrong. Feedback from many people is a good way to learn, and never take anything the wrong way. This is just honest feedback and it needs to be taken only for constructive improvement.

For Bhupendra:

general comments:

Images below are a good start for a photographer. I can recognise intentions, story telling, composition techniques. Definite above the average shooter but I feel a lack of visual graphic impact. they might reflect reality in front of the camera, but they need a bit of catalyst for a better visual experience: contrast, exposure, colour vibrance can be improved

ask yourself the question: how are these any better than millions of others.

Also I can see an average DSLR quality, a better equipment would make a difference.

now going to the nitty gritty below:

good angle, dark underexposed trees in front of the subject are disturbing.I find it a bit too dark.

good clean subject, not sure if in the middle or any intention of switching to one side. Angel not the best for a symmetrical image. I would push it to the left to follow the rule of thirds

I like this one. It needs a bit of post production for a more visual impact – maybe black and white?

Just a fly…maybe shift it to the rule of thirds…..or maybe not?

i like the susnet, again i wish to see a bot more detail of the street….either contrast very strong or very small. this is in between

subject not framed at its best – blurry quality does not help as it shows as an average accidental photo

Image below is very good, ¬†good subject, good composition. It would be an outstanding image if you would have a professional quality equipment. and also if the boy would have different clothes it would turn this is a nice portrait. Average clothes show a random photo…to busy fabric on the shirt

not a great subject – boy with ice cream – so what?

1173601_595875003789716_12620772_n

sky overexposed….where is the image finishing?

Subject should be more in frame…. it looks random

I hope the feedback will be taken as just another opinion and would be taken only an improvement incentive
