product and fashion photo session example
see me in action
This is another sample photo session for one regular client which renews the entire clothing collection twice a year. It can be classified as product photography due to the large number of items but also fashion as we have models cat walking in the studio.
Nothign special in terms of studio settings, all 4 lights are being used, 3 on full power and the fill in secondary light is 75% just to give it a bit of depth, as we are focusing on the clothes and not on the models faces. Camera is in manual mode, ISO 100, Shutter speed 1/125, Aperture 16 and we are sign a wireless trigger for the studio lights.

Great lesson! How significant was the photoshop work on these photographs.
Very professional and productive photo shoot. I would kindly like you to answer a few questions, namely,
– what is the reason of using an aperture of f16 as against f12 for example? Doesn’t a lower aperture hit the ‘sweet spot’ of the lens, an maintain dof?
– could such beautiful results be achieved using speedlights in a home-made studio?
Thank you very much for your marvelous work.
Robert
thank you for your message
answering your questions:
1.aperture is set up by trying few shots and making sure I have got the exposure level I want. F 12 would have been overexposed.
2. yes, but ask yourself how many sets of batteries you will use for a 6 hours photo shoot and 800 images !?
Robert
I have seen your flickr portfolio…very nice. love your work!
Hi Christian,
Thank you for your prompt replies and for visiting my photo stream. I’m honoured that you took the time and for your kind words and encouraging comments.
You’re right about the speedlight battery consumption. I think that I’ll eventually I’ll take the plunge and invest in continuous and/or a strobe lighting setup.
All the best,
Robert.
Robert
if you do your research the strobes might be less expensive than quality brand speed lights.
Hello,
Thank you for your suggestions and help.
Robert
Hi Christian,When watching many other pro photographers videos you kinda get the feeling you need a factory sized studio filled to the roof with lights and gadgets. Watching your videos has given me the belief that setting up my own home studio is not impossible and i thank you for that.If i could achieve similar results as these in this video i would be one very happy photographer.
Iain
of course it is achievable. and it is not that hard or expensive
hi,
i know its a common question, jst curious to know which lens you used for this particular shoot.
Canon 24-70m F2.8 and 70-200 F 2.8 from Canon
